Symphony New Brunswick Welcomes Gilles Gérard Joseph Melanson of Moncton to the Board of Directors
Symphony New Brunswick Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Gilles Gérard Joseph Melanson of Moncton to the Board of Directors.
Gilles is a retired physician and classical music enthusiast. After graduating from Université de Moncton, Gilles studied medicine at Dalhousie University and went on to specialize in Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa. His medical career brought him to Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec where he worked in various medical and psychiatric roles. Gilles is also an accomplished musician and studied piano at the school of music of the Collège Notre Dame d’Acadie and classical organ with Dr Félix Bertrand of Moncton, New Brunswick.
Gilles was an active member of his community in Ottawa and continues to volunteer on various committees since his relocation to Moncton. Most recently he has been involved in the competitive classical musical festival system of the Greater Moncton Music Festival. He is the president of the New Brunswick Federation of Music Festivals, and delegate to the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals/ Fédération Canadienne des festivals de musique, as well as a member of the Governance and Bilingualism Task Force of the Federation. Gilles is excited to join the Symphony New Brunswick Board of Directors and share his expertise as we navigate the challenges brought forward from the pandemic and as we grow and strengthen our organizations reach in the province.
