invites applications for the following permanent salaried position:

PRINCIPAL CELLO

This audition is open only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Candidates may be required to show proof of Canadian citizenship or eligibility to work in Canada. This is a multi-stage competition for the salaried position of Principal Cello with Symphony New Brunswick and the Saint John String Quartet (combined).

  • The initial application stage requires applicants to submit a cv by Wednesday, September 27, 2022 for review by the audition panel.

  • Qualifying candidates, selected at the discretion of the audition panel, will be invited to participate in a pre-recorded video audition to be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

  • Short-listed candidates will be engaged during the 2022-23 Season for a trial residency period that will include both orchestral and chamber ensemble performance.

  • An offer of employment beginning with the 2023-24 season will be presented to the successful candidate following the conclusion of the final trial residency.

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

Minimum Service Guarantee: 180 services

Annual Salary (current for 2022-23): $30,516

Extra Service Rate: $169.53

Season: mid-September to mid-June (limited services in January/February)

Benefits: 5% Pension Fund (budgeted), CPP, EI, cost-shared Group Health Insurance

Symphony New Brunswick (SNB) is a key provincial cultural asset experiencing significant growth under the leadership of its dynamic new Music Director, Mélanie Léonard. The Saint John String Quartet operates with relative autonomy in partnership with SNB. Musicians employed by SNB are members of the New Brunswick Musicians' Association, Local 815 CFM.
